✔️ India, US renew commitment to collaborate on health sector

India and the United States renewed their commitment to work together in the healthcare sector at the India-US Health Dialogue, which concluded in New Delhi on 27 September 2017.

The main aim behind the agreement was to better address the health challenges faced by the people of the two countries.

Besides this, the two-day event saw several experts deliberate on issues of bilateral importance including communicable and non-communicable diseases, low-cost innovations, food and drug regulations, traditional medicine and access to medicines.

✔️ Russia completes chemical weapons destruction

The last chemical munitions from Russian arsenals of chemical weapons were liquidated in the southwest region of the country. The elimination process was completed ahead of schedule.

The move is a huge step towards making the modern world more balanced and more secure. Speaking on the development, Putin said that Russia was among the first to sign the

Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and it aims to strictly fulfil its international obligations, including in the field of disarmament and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

✔️ CARA launches monthly ‘Jan Sampark’ Program to facilitate adoption

The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) has launched a monthly ‘Jan Sampark’ program to enable the public to interact with its officials in order to seek information related to adoption as well as to relay their concerns.

The first of its kind programme was initiated in New Delhi and it saw participation from nearly 150 prospective adoptive parents (PAPs), adoptive parents and representatives of agencies. The session lasted for more than four hours.

Many of the PAPs were counselled and motivated to adopt older children. The event will now be held every month.
